Choose to play on Hard or Expert for the duration of the Leader Board and you could walk away with 30 hours on your GTW account or even the Electric Guitar worth over £400! Also note that there are 4 secret songs that will be used at the Grand Final!

There is NO entrance fee, you just turn up and play, show your score to the admin on duty and you'll see your efforts compared to the rest of the GTW Community, the way it should be :)

So far nearly half the places for the Fifa 08 2v2 League are taken!! We are giving everyone a chance this Saturday and Sunday to play some cross centre games to get prepared for what is to come.

Which International teams do you think will prove to be the most popular?

Will Newry's overwhelming enthusiasm in having 8 teams already entered push them to win all 4 groups?

In Fifa 08 do you think its the players trick skills, the 2v2 team work or the luck on the day that will give teams the advantage?

Hey guys,

Starting on Saturday the 5th of July GTW is bringing you 2 New Xbox 360 Competitions! Each will last 7 weeks and we see the best players invited to an awesome live final with over 30 finalists and loads of GTW friends coming to compete in one day events. At the final aswell as the finals of the Fifa 08 and Guitar Hero 3 there will be live music, a showing from our friends at Belfast Guitar Emporium, Xbox competitions in FPS and Racing genres and other festivities.

In the Fifa League you team up with your friend to take on 31 other teams from across all our centres in 2v2 matches. If you can come in the top 2 in your group at the end of the 7 weeks you'll be invited to the finals at the secret location. Matches will be played on Saturdays and Sundays for group stages so make sure to get the weekly practices in so you can win 4 Tickets to go and see Liverpool play in the 08/09 Premiership Season PLUS any Football Jersey of your choosing! And don't forget if you're not a Liverpool fan they do have to play against another team :-p

In Guitar Hero 3 its all down to solo skill! Each week a song will be shown on the GTW website League Section and players from all over the UK and Ireland will compete in centre to achieve the best scores in Hard and Expert difficulty. Each week the players at the top will be awarded points to the GH3 Leaderboard and those who rank in the top 8 on each board (Hard & Expert) will be invited to the final day to play in front of a live audience. Those who decide to go for expert mode will get a chance at walking away with a Electric Guitar worth over £400!

So Register for Fifa 08 at your local centre today and get those fingers warming up for GH3 scoreboard challenges over the next 7 weeks. Teams are going to be given 2 weeks for Fifa practices where they can size up the opposition.

As a lot of you may have noticed, there's been a recent addition to the GTW family and that is GTW Antrim! Located on High Street, the centre is really worth a visit. The centre is built perfectly to encourage close gaming with your friends, meaning pwning n00bs as a team has never been easier. It also makes for really intimate, fun competitions that are really easy to run for the admin, as well as great fun for all the players involved.

They've followed the GAMETHEWORLD trend of getting top-of-the-range PCs, able to play all of the games currently on the market with ease. There are 20 PCs total in the centre all built with the following awesome high specs:

• Dual Core Processor
• nVidia 8800 GTX video card (756mb)
• Corsair 2gb RAM
• 7.1 DTS sound

The PCs are also kitted out with 22" Ultrasharp monitors for awesome gaming, and gamers have access to the great Razer Diamondback mice and mousepads for excellent control and speed while gaming.  I love using this combo for FPS games in particular.  The aim and control you get from it is just unmatched, especially in the more fast-paced games.  It's also great for sniping!

Either way, you won't be disappointed. I sincerely advise any of the current members of GTW centres to get to Antrim and give it a go. Meet and greet the guys there and show 'em how well you fare!

Who wants to have a go with one of these babies?

Some of you may have noticed that on the new homepage on the GTW site we have four new stats ladders, two of which are centre vs centre stats. The first ladder is the weekly totals, and the second is for monthly scores.

GTW has just purchased some 3^rd Space FPS Vests for use in the GTW centres. At the end of each month, we're going to check the centres' monthly scores and whoever came top will get to use the FPS vests for a month.  To check up on your scores, you can check the homepage of the website, and every Monday the GTW admins of each centre will be sent out an update of the ladder to be placed on their noticeboard for all customers to see!

These awesome flak jackets really simulate what it feels like to be shot (without the unbearable pain, blood and gore of course!) through the use of pneumatic cells across the jacket, meaning whenever you are shot, air is forced into the appropriate cell to deliver a powerful thump when shot with a rifle, and a light thwap when you're hit with a glancing blow. Each shot will correspond to what happens on your screen and what weapon you were shot with. Someone hit you with a shotgun? Enjoy having all eight cells give you that realistic I-just-'sploded sensation at once!

I wouldn't call it painful, and the jackets certainly don't leave any mark on the body, but at the same time, it certainly does bring a lot of immersion to the games, particularly because it makes you nervous, particularly because instead of the pitter-patter of bullets on the dust behind you, you know someone's behind you and there's nothing you can do about it. I'm sure you guys won't be so enthusiastic to play 'bash only' games after you've tried these.

My honest opinion is that using this vest makes people play much better. Dying is always frustrating in games, but when you constantly feel the peppering of machine guns in your spine you'll be less than happy to perform daring stunts that get you killed and lose the game for your team. I found that it was actually less annoying to die, because you're too busy having fun shooting your friends and laughing at the looks on their faces and their reactions to bulletfire when you shoot one of them square in the chest.

Next stop, FPS helmets! BOOM! Headshot...

As you all know, GAMETHEWORLD Coleraine was recently closed for its refurbishment. We are proud to announce that GTW Coleraine officially reopened today and is UBER! If you haven't already been down to see the new centre, get down there now and test out the awesome new PCs sporting gorgeous 24” monitors.

If you've never been to GTW Coleraine before, now is the perfect time to check it out. The centre has always been very well kitted out, but after its refurb it's looking stunning with top of the range PCs and a pair of Xbox 360s playable on 52” plasma TVs!

The centre now also has a brand new Polar Krush machine which, from experience in Bangor, I can say is absolutely awesome! Nothing quite like a Polar Krush slushie drink on one of those warm days when you're busy pwning in a competition!

Coleraine now has a new addition to its centre...a MONSTER beanbag! Bangor has one also, and they're really comfortable and great for playing the Xboxes on. You won't be disappointed!

To quote GTW Coleraine's stratovarius, “I <3 the new gtw!” We know you will too, so get down there quick and join in the fun!

Something exciting has happened in Holywood recently.

GAMETHEWORLD are always looking for great, interesting new ways to promote our Mulitplayer e-Sports centres, as gaming, particularly the competitive kind, has been sorely under-represented in the past in Northern Ireland and the UK, and it is our goal to give gamers a friendly, social place to hang out as well as get the competitive spirit going in NI.

Some companies find it difficult to get opportunities to represent themselves, and rarely get the chance to help our the locals at the same time. Not at GTW! GTW Holywood's Mark Taylor jumped on the opportunity to help local football team, Recon Rangers FC, by donating a full team kit. In exchange, GTW got the honour of having their logo proudly brandished across the front of the kit.

What's even better is that the team will be entering local leagues this summer, and while they're working hard to get their team trained for that, they're also raising money for the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Like I said, it's not often that a company gets such an amazing opportunity, but GTW managed to grab it and are getting the pleasure of supporting a local football club and a charity at the same time, and we're very proud and glad to be involved.

With PC competitions being such a success GTW is now venturing into Consoles ASWELL to give you even more chances at winning big prizes!

Coming in July is a 2v2 Fifa 08 Uber-League on the XBox 360. All the info I'm giving away for now is that the prizes will be awesome, there will be a fantastic final day for those that make it and we expect places to fill up quickly so keep checking the website for more info.

Hey guys,

It is with a unhappy face I have to write this but unfortunately GAMETHEWORLD Lisburn has had to close. This is out of our control and is in no way related to the GTW staff or indeed you, our members.

I appreciate that many regulars will be extremely disappointed to hear this news but we can assure you that we will be actively seeking a suitable franchisee for this area, so all is not lost.

In the meantime, why not try out some of the other centres, for example, Lisburn is a short train ride from Lisburn Road, Belfast (and the GAMETHEWORLD is two minutes from Balmoral Station).  I can assure you that GTWers from Lisburn will be made very welcome.
